Since 1988, Inspire Youth Project has been a place where children and youth impacted by HIV/AIDS and childhood trauma can find a place of belonging, support, and understanding. Support groups, called Magic Circles, are offered to our children throughout the school year. They are safe, confidential, non-judging spaces. Creative and visual arts are often used to help facilitate the group process. Older youth are part of a Teen Leadership program, which focuses on building life skills as well as leadership skills. The Youth Program Intern will assist Inspire Youth Program staff members in delivering Inspire Youth Project programs.
Responsibilities could include:
- Assist in coordinating the content, programming and delivery of Magic Circle Support Group fall session for at risk youth and for children/teens affected by HIV/AIDS or childhood trauma.
- Assist with the coordination of transportation, supplies, etc. for Magic Circle Support Group fall session.
- Assist with coordination and execution of Teen Leadership Workshops.
- Work with Program Manager and Director to communicate with families regarding paperwork and schedule for Magic Circle.
- Assists the Program Manager and Director with mentor support activities and programming.
- Assist the Program Manager and Director with Holiday Giving Program.
- Input client information into Access database, and create corresponding folder for each Family Intake
- Input mentor information into Access database, and update corresponding spreadsheets and files. Send copies of paperwork to mentor.
- Update mentor logs for each active mentor.
- Prepare and execute mailings.
- Performs typing, copying, data entry, distributing, organizing, filing and faxing in support of program and administrative staff.
- Other office duties as assigned.

Today, Inspire Youth Project’s empowering network of support programs has grown to include Magic Circle Support Groups, Teen Leadership, One-on-One Mentoring Partnerships, Day and Summer Camps, and Scholarship opportunities. By improving emotional and social relationship skills, providing a safe community of peers, and teen leadership and scholarship opportunities, Inspire Youth Project supports our youth to make decisions that help them rise above the cycle of poverty, adversity, and marginalization to become successful throughout school and in life. At their side and on their side, we remain a place of belonging for their lifetime.
Our youth and teens are connected to Inspire Youth Project from local medical professionals, trauma care centers, and by referral from partner schools and community organizations.
