Mission : Big Apple Greeter’s mission is to enhance New York City ’s worldwide image and enrich the New York experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. Our goal is to promote New York City as friendly, inviting, and manageable; to bolster tourism and to foster economic development; and to create opportunities for New Yorkers to show pride in their city and give something back to the city.
Activities: Work with the Executive Director to:
- Create basic correspondence
- Communicate with foundations, corporations, and other organizations
- Schedule meetings
- Coordinate with Big Apple Greeter staff members on special projects
- Track grant awards
- Perform some Internet research
- Run reports and queries from our donor database
Qualifications/Technical Requirements:
- Professionalism
- Good communication skills, both on phone and in writing
- Ability to work independently as well as be part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Time Commitment : 2-3 days a week or equivalent; flexible hours.
Benefits: Great for retirees with strong computer skills. You would work with staff and other volunteers in a friendly office environment.

Description
Big Apple Greeter is a small non-profit organization that has been welcoming visitors to NYC since 1992 by offering them free 4 hour visits to a neighborhood of their choice with volunteers who know it well.
