Join our active group of Park District volunteer and be part of a team that can make a difference! Help restore and preserve the natural areas at Lyman Woods during R.E.A.P. (Restore, Educate, And Preserve) Workdays! Activities: collect and sow native seed, restore trails with wood chips, remove invasive brush. Everyone can get involved!

The Park District will provide all tools, safety equipment and training in safety and restoration techniques. Volunteers should have the ability to work outdoors doing hard, physical labor. Volunteers must also be able to work with others as a team and to follow the directions of the workday supervisors. Youth volunteers under the age of 14 require a ratio of 1 adult for 5 participants.

Description

William F. Sherman, Jr. Interpretive Center is the starting off point for exploration of Lyman Woods. The William F. Sherman, Jr. Interpretive Center is a green building exemplifying environmentally friendly building practices and technology. Lyman Woods is 150 acres of oak woods, prairie, and marsh habitats that supports over 300 species of native plants.
