We’re looking for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) enthusiasts to teach our innovative, out-of-school time programming. Ideal volunteers will have a background a STEAM field, be a self-starter, motivated, organized, responsible, and enjoy working with youth.
College experience and/or degree preferred.
Mid-afternoons (3pm-6pm) from 4 to 16 weeks long dependent upon your interest.
Additionally, all candidates must have a strong want to teach outside a vacuum and emphasize career components to encourage continued student interest.
Potential workshop ideas include:
- Formulas and Fantasy Football -Use statistical analyses and quantitative evaluations to get the edge in fantasy football. By looking at data, measuring matchups and making projections, students put their analytic skills to the test in fantasy sports competitions
- Math Art -Explore the beauty of mathematics by exploring how perspective, fractals, tessellations, Fibonacci, and the Golden Ratio are at play in many great works of art and architecture.
- Learn to Code- Teach students usine CodeAcademy the basics of Coding.
Our space is a laid back, educational environment with its goal to expose students to STEAM learning and careers.
These are just som eof the exciting workshops Inspiring Minds has in mind. If you’d be interested in running one of these workshops, have an idea of your own, or want to come in to brainstorm how to present your passion for STEAM to students please contact Kate at Kcresci @ inspiringmindsri.org

Description
Inspiring Minds is an antiracist organization committed to closing equity gaps based on race, ethnicity, first language, and economic status that impact RI students and families. The organization was founded as Lippitt Hill Tutorial in1963 to provide academic support for children in two segregated elementary schools. Since then, the organization has grown into a citywide service and, in 1988, became Volunteers in Providence Schools to reflect its citywide approach to addressing academic inequities. Finally, the name Inspiring Minds was adopted in 2008 as the programs and scope of work expanded beyond Providence City's borders. Join us as we aim for programming in schools across the state!
