ORGANIZATION: Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure

Bat for the Cure

Our organization (www.fans4thecure.org) holds an annual day at over 170
minor league ballparks. We have a table set up at the ballpark, and
distribute information to fans about prostate cancer. The table is staffed
by a few local volunteers, and fans are "enticed" to the table with a
chance to win a free autographed bat by the home team.

We are requesting the services of 3-6 volunteers to work the table at the
event. The game starts at 2pm, and we'd ask the volunteers to arrive at
about 12:30 pm. The volunteers usually stay at the table through the fifth
inning . We would be looking for a couple of the volunteers to greet the
fans when the gates open, and give out our pamphlets and direct them to our
table to sign up for entry into our data base where we can distribute
further info. The other volunteers would be at the table taking care of the
sign-up process (remember, those signing up will be eligible to win the
autographed bat!).

Our materials have been sent to the Loons in advance, so the volunteers
would pick them up when arriving at the game. There is nothing to bring.
Just show up and at the end of the time slot turn over the materials to the
team representative.

Description

"Minor League Baseball is proud to name Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure to Strike Out Prostate Cancer as our initial charity as part of our Homegrown Charities Partners program. By its nature, the Homegrown Charities Partners is a program where these partners have, in large part, roots traceable to Minor League Baseball. Bat for the Cure is such a partner. Ed Randall’s personal and career paths run deep into MinorLeague Baseball. Bat for the Cure’s noble and good work is done with many of our member teams. We have an obligation to look out for our fans when we can and Bat for the Cure is an important component in the lifestyle and wellness testing and education in our cities. This is a natural partnership and we are pleased to welcome Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure to our charities partnership family".
