Overview of the Buyer Responsibilities
- Chief responsibilities will be grocery store ordering, payment, delivery.
- Act as a backup to the pantry supervisor assisting with pantry operations and EFAP ordering if necessary.
Specific tasks include:
- Coordinate all Grocery Store orders with the warehouse manager by reviewing inventory levels and determining which items need to be purchased based on stocking levels and best prices available.
- Maintain and develop relationships with grocery suppliers management and staff
- Price best buys and work with store managers for best discounting on purchases.
- Places the order with Ralphs or Smart and Final stores. (Current suppliers)
- Confirms the delivery date.
- Pays for the order using the Pantry credit card. Delivers receipts and paid invoices to the treasurer weekly.
- Arranges for a volunteer driver to meet at the store to pick up the order after it is paid for.
- Coordinates and schedules stockers to be onsite the day of delivery to place orders in the storage units after the driver delivers the order.

Description
Founded in 1985, and in operation over 31 years, we are one of the largest food pantries in the San Fernando valley supported by over 200 volunteers and a coalition of nonprofit and non-secular organiztions. We serve twelve zip codes that cover the West San Fernando Valley. Our efforts are made possible by the contributions of volunteers and donor support of food, money and time. We serve over 3,000 clients a month. We provide food support services to the elderly, children, homeless and low income families. Over 26,000 meals per month are served to those in our local community that face hunger issues. Our volunteers are truly the force that sustains our service to the community. They provide groceries to clients, handle our inventory,pick up donations, organize food drives and promote our mission throughout the community. We invest in the futures of our clients because we feel that our service can lead to better lives.
