Partner Agency Guide - Monday Afternoons

**This opportunity takes place every Monday afternoon from 1:00pm - 4:00pm and requires a 6 month commitment**
Key Responsibilities:
- Help welcome agencies as they arrive
- Assist agencies in the various shopping areas. Learn specific agency needs, and help them find products they can use
- Keep informed on the products that are available to agencies
- Help agencies keep different categories of items separate for weighing
- Monitor the time for the agencies to keep them within their scheduled appointment
- Help organize, consolidate, and display dry goods and refrigerated items
- Help keep the cooler and dry goods areas clear of empty boxes, spoiled products, and trash
- Assist warehouse staff in receiving food drive donations
Qualifications:
- Able to work well with a variety of people
- Able to commit to volunteering at least once a week for at least 6 months
- Able to stand, move, bend, and lift in warehouse environment
- Able to safely use box cutter, packing tape dispenser, and other basic tools as needed
Commitment:
- Interested volunteers must be able to commit to one shift a week for at least 6 months
- Coverage is needed Monday-Thursday 8-11am and 1-4pm, and Friday from 8am-11am
- It is preferred that each volunteer take at least 2 shifts per week
Attire:
Closed-toe shoes are required in the warehouse. In this position you will be working in several different environments, including a refrigerator and freezer. Comfortable, layered clothing is recommended. We also recommend a pair of work gloves.
Age Requirement:
All warehouse volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Support/Training:
All agency guides will be trained by the appropriate staff. Staff will also be available for support during each shift.

As a non-profit food bank, our primary role is to provide food to the charitable agencies offering direct service to hungry Iowans.
These partner agencies include:
- Food pantries
- Soup kitchens
- Homeless shelters
- Shelters for victims of domestic violence
- Nonprofit day care centers
- Residential care centers
- Child and senior programs
Along with traditional food banking, the Food Bank of Iowa also operates three successful programs: Backpack Buddies, HUSH and the Fresh Produce Project.
