Fit 2 Be Kids is a local nonprofit that is focused on making a positive impact in families in South Orange County. Our mission is to bring health and wellness directly to low-income/at-risk children and to help with fighting childhood obesity in our local communities, both domestically & internationally.
We have a few different volunteer/internship opportunities:
1. Marketing/Communications: We are doing a golf tournament on September 21st at the Aliso Viejo Country Club. We also are doing some small fundraisers to various stores to help bring business to the store while we get a percentage of the sales. We can use help going to stores to seek out in-kind donations for the golf tournament as well as help spreading the word about our upcoming store events (which includes a night at an ice cream store, a pizza restaurant, and during the holidays, a in store event at a jewelry store).
2. Grant research and writing: This is perfect for any English and writing type majors. We are looking for someone who would be interested in researching various different grants and writing a proposal. We have a sample grant and other information for you to use. This position could turn into a job down the line, depending on how much is awarded to us thanks to your work.
3. We do fitness activities for the kids (around 50) on Saturday. If you would be interested in volunteering, we are always in need of more help.
Each position can be used as an internship or volunteer. We will also write a letter of recommendation for you.

Fit to be Kids, Inc. (F2BK) is a 501(c)(3) community outreach organization that provides prevention, awareness and advocacy education about childhood obesity, and the health risks that accompany this disease, to at-risk youth and their families - empowering them to live healthier, wholesome lives while promoting physical activity, nutrition education and social/emotional character development through experience-based enrichment programs that ultimately impact the overall well-being of our communities.
This is the gist of what we’ve learned...
Childhood obesity is merely a symptom of systemic designs, typically due to poverty, which deters youth from the outdoors (physical activity) and access to nutrition (fresh fruits and vegetables). We have also learned that experience-based learning is much more effective in long-term behavior change.

We have created an experience-based learning environment where children can develop necessary social, emotional, cognitive and dexterous skills through specific physical activities and nutrition education that will empower them in leading a balanced and wholesome life.
