Title: Enrichment Buddy
Minimum Commitment: 1 hour per week for a semester
Possible Volunteer Times: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 6:20pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage students in fun, recreational activities
- Help serve snacks to students
- Help students transition to different activities
- Serve as a positive role model and as an adult who cares
- Discuss ideas, areas of concern, etc. with YLC staff persons
- Other duties as they arise and fulfill volunteer’s area(s) of interest/expertise
Skills and Qualifications Necessary:
- Ability to and interest in working with school-age children
- Interest in enrichment activities
- A friendly and positive attitude
- Demonstrates responsibility, dependability, and consistency
Training:
- Preliminary Volunteer Orientation & "YLC Way" Training
- Other training sessions may be offered during your time as a volunteer
Accountability:
- Communicates with After School Program Manager regarding academic/disciplinary questions/concerns
- Communicates with Volunteer Coordinator regarding general inquiries, scheduling/task questions/concerns, and volunteer program evaluations
Screening Requirements:
- Volunteer Application
- Criminal Record Check
- Sexual Offender Registry Screening
- Volunteer Interview

Description
YLC is a youth-focused educational center operated by an organization that believes, as a statement of fact, that education is the beginning of freedom and that every child, regardless of economic status, race or class, is deserving of this gift of freedom. YLC's programmatic offerings are available to K-8th grade students in our after school Resources for Learning Program and Summer Discovery Academy. In addition, we also offer programming to high school students interested in STEM careers through our networking program called Two Degrees. Our growth-mindset focused offerings include learning through play, solving, and building in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) fields, which include Video Game Design, Computer Animation, Chess, Robotics, Aeronautics, and many other areas relevant to 21st century skill advancement.We are proud to be a United Way Volunteer Center-Certified agency.
