Healthy Halloween is the Rosedale Development Association's annual fall festival to help promote healthy, active living with the children and families of Rosedale, Kan. Our event helps to provide a healthy way to celebrate Halloween in an area that is a known food and recreation desert.

Rosedale is a vibrant community that is facing a serious health disparity. Being a food and recreation desert, Rosedale has no grocery store or community center, and as a result, it was found that 44% of elementary school-aged children are overweight or obese. Healthy Halloween helps create a neighborhood culture and environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice. By providing a healthier alternative, children and families in Rosedale are able to celebrate a healthier Halloween.

Healthy Halloween provides a place where kids can celebrate without the barrage of candy they encounter elsewhere featuring lots of fun games and activities, plus healthy snacks. Some games and activities from the past include soccer, disc golf, sack races, a bounce house, a photo booth, pumpkin painting, mask making, and a make-your-own trail mix station. Healthy Halloween is a family fun event in our community, to help produce a healthier and more successful community.
