Green-winged Macaw Keeper

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

Do you have previous experience with exotic birds? Come volunteer once or twice a week at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center to help out with our rescued Green-winged Macaw, Emerald. Before coming to the us, Emerald was in a hoarding situation with approximately 70 other birds. During that time, he plucked out a large amount of his feathers due to stress. He is a large bird with some lingering behavioral issues from his last situation but once you gain his trust he is awesome. He needs some TLC and large amounts of human interaction as he becomes a happier and healthier parrot. During your shifts, your main task would be to train and play with Emerald. Additionally, you may be asked to clean his exhibits, or prepare his food.
