Mission Statement
SERVING HOMELESS FAMILIES SINCE 2007
The Mission of Family Promise of Delaware County is to minister to the needs of low-income, homeless children and their parents by providing temporary housing, meals, transportation and other physical needs through a network of committed congregations throughout Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
The Network provides case management services to guide program participants in their quest to establish independent living.
Description
Family Promise of Delaware County, formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network is a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days per year service providing temporary accommodations for 3-4 homeless families at a time. We serve as an alternate to the shelter system, which often has families living apart. Families within the network work to resolve their homelessness by achieving stable income, housing and childcare.
Family Promise of Delaware County is affilitated with National Family Promise. We are one of 187 Family Promise affiliates located throughout 47 states. There are over 130,000 volunteers and over 5,500 congregations that participate in the shelter program. We also celebrate a significant success rate; nationally, more than 80% of the families leave the program with permanent housing.
Delaware County IHN services families with children without regard to race, religion, or age. Families may stay in the program up to 120 days providing they are adhering to guest guidelines and making progress in their efforts towards self-sufficiency.
