Operation AmeriCorps Members will complete a volunteer service term of 300 hours. During this service term AmeriCorps Members will be placed in one of three schools or five after school programs in East St. Louis. Service will be geared to 7 th , 8 th , and 9 th grade students to help them achieve academic and career success. After successfully completing their term of service, AmeriCorps Members will receive a $1,212 Segal Education Award. This education award may be used towards previous, current, or future loans. The following qualifications are required: Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States. Have a desire to improve the lives of at-risk youth and encourage a culture of continuing education. Serve for 300 hours.
