Host an Exchange Student - Change a Life! (Northampton, MA)

ORGANIZATION: CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange

Several international exchange students will be arriving in Northampton over the next 7-15 days and are still in need of a loving host family! We are hoping you might be interested or that you would know someone in your area who might be. Northampton High School has already agreed to enroll 2 of these students, but we are still looking for host families.

Every year, the CIEE USA High School Program partners with hundreds of American families like yours to bring bright students from every corner of the world to the U.S. Our students have chosen to step outside their comfort zones to become part of new families, schools, and communities. They are smart, engaged, and excited to share the unique aspects of their country’s culture, traditions, and language while learning more about yours.

The students listed below are still awaiting host family placements. They will be arriving over the next 7-10 days, so any help you can provide in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated! We have 2 other students available as well.

Jose is a 16 year old boy from Mexico. "I’m a very active person who wants to combine studies, culture, and sports in this amazing school year. I like to cook and can maybe show you a bit of real Mexican food. I hope I can share part of the love in your family. In my family we are very united and I would like to be that way with your family, helping anywhere. I’m a Golfer and I love going to the Gym too, I play golf with my father and brother so we are always together."

Mathilda is a 17 year old girl from Italy. "I enjoy going to school, and I want to try a different system of it, giving my best. Furthermore I would love to meet new people, see new places and try different things and that’s an irreplaceable asset. I adapt quickly and I never quit because I amcommitted and determined. I really enjoy playing and watching all sports, especially dancing, in addition to reading and traveling. I think I would like joining a dance team in U.S. and getting involved in new activities! I would like to thank you in advance for the hospitality you will offer me during this experience I honestly can’t wait to live it. I will help with house chores and do my best to be a welcome guest in your home: I am sure that I’ll feel soon at home right there in the U.S With the best wishes for now."

Lorenzo is a 17 year old boy from ITALY. "I have 3 goals for this experience: To meet new friends from different countries and to discover the American way of living. To become fluent in English in order to be able to travel, study and work in an international environment. To live an experience that helps me to grow and to become more independent. I really hope to reach my goals and enrich myself in the USA. I love playing soccer, doing kickboxing, and playing tennis. When I am relaxing I like to watch movies and play some video game. I love trying new food too and I want to try new experiences in USA!"

Bianca is a 17 year old girl from ITALY. "I’m always laughing and smiling. I’m full of energy and like to exercise and stay active with my friends. I also enjoy cooking, I often cook for my dad and while on this program I hope to learn lots of traditional American recipes. I would also like to join sports or dance team while I’m at school in US, so that I can build close friendships and improve my teamwork skills. I see this year abroad as an opportunity to test myself, my independence, and gain confidence. I’m really looking forward to meeting and getting to know my host family and I hope that we’ll get along well with each other!"

Make it possible for a young person who is curious about life in the United States to live like an American -give him or her the opportunity of a lifetime by becoming a host family for 5 or 10 months! CIEE works with families of all shapes and sizes - kids, no kids, empty nesters, single people, retired couples, etc. Again, if you cannot host the student for the full school year, please consider welcoming a student into your home for 6-8 weeks as a welcome family!

Refer a family and earn $250! If you are not in a position to host, you can refer any of your friends or contacts that might be interested. If your referral becomes a CIEE host family you will receive a special $250 referral thank you! If you work for an organization, school, team, or charity, we will happily donate the $250 to your cause or group!
