Every day thousands of cancer patients need a ride to treatment, but some may not have a way to get there.

The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves.

Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars so that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need.

HOW CAN YOU HELP WITH COORDINATING THESE RIDES?

We are actively looking for a Road To Recovery Volunteer Coordinator in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Purpose:

The Volunteer Coordinator oversees all transportation requests for cancer patients within assigned area. The Coordinator utilizes American Cancer Society Road to Recovery volunteers to meet the transportation needs of the patient.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the community
  • Comfortable using technology to coordinate rides
  • Ability to respond to requests for transportation within a defined time frame
  • Sensitivity to the needs of cancer patients
  • Respectful of the patient’s right to confidentiality
