We are looking for a volunteer who would act as a traveling "librarian" for one of our preschools: The Arch Street Preschool (40 Arch Street, Greenwich), The Gateway Preschool (2 Chapel Street, Greenwich), or our Head Start/School Readiness Classrooms (Armstrong Court, Greenwich).

Volunteers would be responsible for obtaining books from the local library for use in each classroom, and would work with teachers to coordinate lessons and topics being covered. Every other week the volunteer would bring new books in and return old ones to the library.

This position is very flexible and is ideal for students! We accept volunteers as young as age 15 for this opportunity.

A personal interview and background check (for those over the age of 18) are required for this position.

About Family Centers

Location:

40 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT 06830, US

Mission Statement

Family Centers' mission is to empower children, adults, families and communities to realize their potential. Our NAEYC accredited preschools, school-based social work, parental education and adolescent counseling services, give families the resources they need to ensure their children have the bright beginnings they deserve. A comprehensive network of counseling and support services is also instrumental in helping families in crisis work toward a successful resolution. Vocational training, housing resources, counseling and self sufficiency programs also help low-income people and those with long-term mental illness realize their dreams of living independently. Meanwhile, our senior outreach programs encourage lifelong learning, socialization and support.
