We have a very sweet patient who would benefit by someone coming to read with her 2-4 times a month. She is elderly and does not talk or interact much. This would be a great opportunity for a retired individual, student, or someone with experience working with the elderly or alzheimer's patients.

Patients nearing the end of life often time would like company to spend some time together. Volunteers must be 18 years of age, drug screen, have a clean background check, and have a valid driver's license. We will provide a current TB test and CPR training if you do not already have one.

Volunteers can serve for as little as 4 hours per month, but there is oppoirtunity for more. These positions will require a willingness to drive to the location of the patient. Orientation is provided! If you are friendly and love to help, then we are looking for you!

Mission Statement

16-1646414

The mission of Curo Health Services, and its hospice affiliates, is to honor life and offer compassion to individuals, and their families, when facing a life-limiting illness.

Description

The services you will give as a Hospice volunteer will profoundly improve the quality of our patient's lives. Friendly visits enable families to keep their loved ones at home, around the people they love, and the things they love. Assisting with errands helps a tired family cope with their many challenges and allows them time with their loved one. Simply holding a patient's hand can ease their mind and comfort their spirit.Volunteering takes no advanced medical training or great commitment. It can be as simple as reading to, or spending time with a patient a few hours a week. It is small deeds of kindness that so profoundly enhance the lives of our patients and those who love them.

There are many kinds of Hospice volunteers. Our volunteers include individuals, families, businesses, youth and school groups, civic organizations and churches. Volunteer candidates go through interview and screening processes to ensure the safety of our patients and their families. All hospice volunteers are given assignments that best suit their time, skills and interests.

Our volunteers are thoroughly trained and supported in the skills they need for the volunteer role. Training includes scheduled sessions, individual training and on-site training for groups and organizations.
