ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army San Diego Regional Office

Position title: Volunteer Music Instructor

Reports to: Lieutenants James and Hilda Parks

Purpose/Goal of Position: To teach youth at the Oceanside Corps Community Center how to read music and play instruments.


Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:

1. Ability to read music and play an instrument.

2. Prior experience in group instruction or teaching preferred.

3. Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.

4. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants.

5. Able to maintain boundaries and uphold the Protecting the Mission values of The Salvation Army.


Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Prepare a syllabus and daily lesson plans for each class, based on student needs.

2. Promote activities to youth at The Salvation Army Oceanside Corps Community Center.

3. Supervise activities for youth, with priority in their safety, at all times following The Salvation Army’s safety policies for working with minors.

Time Commitment: Tuesdays 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
