The Corning Museum of Glass Internships

Overview

The Corning Museum of Glass, the international leader in the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge about the art, history, science, and technology of glass and glassmaking has an exciting opportunity for an intern to participate in a summer-long internship with our Flameworking and Properties of Glass Demonstration Team.

The preferred candidate will be trained to perform demonstrations and work on the front line with our guests. The demonstrations to be presented include Flameworking, Glass Breaking, and Optical Fiber. (If the candidate is qualified, this may also include participation in Hot Glass Demos as well.)

This internship is an opportunity for a glass student to greatly broaden their knowledge of the possibilities of the material. The selected candidate will be thoroughly trained in many aspects of glass science, flameworking, glass history, and public speaking.

This year is a particularly exciting time to work at The Corning Museum of Glass as we will open new North Wing addition in March. This new space adds 100,000 square feet to our facility. The expansion includes a 26,000 square-foot Contemporary Glass Gallery which will allow us to exhibit works on a much more grand scale than ever before. We are also adding a 500-seat Hot Glass Amphitheater that will be equipped with some of the most state-of-the-art equipment and capabilities ever assembled in one studio.

  • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures meet CMoG’s standards
  • Maintain neat, clean, and tidy personal grooming and appearance to CMoG standards
