Since 1975, Iowans have joined together to contribute their time, talent and hearts to the annual Variety Telethon. The telethon is the foundation that Variety of Iowa was built upon and is the highlight of our year. On March 5 & 6, 2016, We Are Iowa Local 5 will broadcast this weekend event throughout Central Iowa.
Each year, a line-up of local, national and international personalities appear along with thousands of volunteers, individual donors and companies, like Hy-Vee, who continue to give their time and money to support Iowa’s children. The telethon provides Variety the opportunity to highlight the kids that will ultimately benefit from the dollars raised.
The Variety telethon is broadcast live from the Grand Ballroom in the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at Vets Memorial Auditorium (downtown) from 7pm on Saturday, March 5th through 6pm on Sunday, March 6th, 2016. If you are able, stop by and say hello to the telethon cast in person! We also have a Kids Corner set up for your children to do arts and crafts and have some treats during the telethon.

Variety- the Children's Charity of Iowa is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill and special needs children throughout the state. Since the inception of the Telethon in 1975, Variety has raised more than $100 million to support the children of Iowa.
Variety is making a better future for our community by connecting people who care to programs that enable children to reach their full potential. Variety is helping create opportunities for children to fully share in the experiences of life.
Variety provides funding to non-profit children’s organizations for tangible items such as building expansions and renovations, equipment, programming needs and more. Our Kids on the Go! program provides Variety Vans to children’s organizations; bikes, helmets and locks to children who have never enjoyed their own bike; and specialized bikes for children with special needs. All children should have the opportunity to experience a playground, which is why Variety is working with Iowa communities to provide all-inclusive playgrounds for children with and without special needs.
