ORGANIZATION: Resources and Outreach for Liberia (ROL)

This volunteer role is for an energetic person who has vast media contacts and experience communicating with the media and press.

ROL's Project R.E.A.D.is making significant strides and we want the community and the world to know. We're looking for a savvy, cut-throat PR/Media professional to create press releases, pitch stories to media outlets, write enthralling articles, and get people talking and interested in Project R.E.A.D.

Qualified applicants should be excited about the rights of girls, be willing to learn about our initiatives, and have an eye for quality. This is an important role: Your contribution will make a big difference to the success of Project R.E.A.D. and its ability to empower girls and to stop the exploitation of Liberian girls.

Interested? Do your research on the organization and our projects. Email your resume, a sample press release to skromah@rol-liberia.org. Also, if you've done your research, you know who Rachel is and why she's significant to us. How would you use her story?

Mission Statement

"In response to being our sister's keeper, we strive to give her dignity and a fighting chance."

Description

Resources and Outreach for Liberia (ROL) is a registered nonprofit organization based in the U.S. and Liberia. The goal of ROL is to bridge the gap between Liberia's underserved girls and women to first world education and resources through our program, Project READ (Restoration Education Arts Development). For the last year, Project READ has acquired over 100,000 books and supplies with a goal of opening a female-run library cafe and drop-in center in Liberia, a safe place for girls to learn, explore, network, and work. Project READ will be a safe haven from Liberia's high rate of gender-based violence and an opportunity to explore new worlds through books. There are no public libraries and absolutely no safe spaces for girls in Liberia, so this program is novel.

In order to help fund Project READ's endeavors, Sang Kromah, ROL's Executive Director started a global social change initiative, Project GirlSpire, an online media platform that allows the stories of girls and women to be told, their imaginations to run loose, their voices to be heard, their interests to be discussed and encourage them to be the truest versions of themselves. We’re informative, raw, accepting, creative, and original.
