The social media coordinator will develop and implement a social media strategy to increase overall reach and brand awareness. S/he will use social media outlets to promote program goals and active CHPS campaigns, engage the public and increase online presence. The social media coordinator will directly contribute to increasing CHPS’ capacity to make every school an ideal place to learn by increasing public awareness of health, resource conservation and environmental protection issues and communicating progress on specific CHPS campaigns.
Duties and Responsibilities
The social media coordinator will:
- Identify key online channels for CHPS to establish a presence
- Develop a social media strategy to support the organization’s conservation campaigns and fundraising activities, and establish targets for increasing online reach
- Post regular updates to CHPS’ social media outlets, including news articles, blog posts, press releases, fundraising appeals, and any other promotional items
- Monitor activity and user interactions for all social media outlets
- Adapt general CHPS campaign messaging for the different outlet-specific audiences
Qualifications
- Experience using key social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Vimeo)
- Strong writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to use online tools to engage members, donors, and corporate partners
- Outgoing, enthusiastic and creative
- Works well independently and as part of a team
Time Period
This position requires a minimum 3 month commitment for 1-2 days per week for an average of 8-10 hours per week, which can be completed in the office or at home.

Volunteers are highly valued members of the CHPS team and contribute to making a significant difference in CHPS’ ability to transform K-12 schools for current and future generations.
CHPS will provide reference letters for all volunteers who successfully complete a placement.
