Severe Weather Shelter Network: Team Leaders
Severe Weather Shelter Network has 7 Host Sites providing emergency, overnight shelter on life threatening winter nights for individuals living on the streets. All the Host Sites are in the west metro Denver area.
Severe Weather Shelter Network is mobilized by overnight weather conditions. We only open when overnight tempartures are going to be 32 degrees or colder and wet, or 20 degrees or colder and dry.
Each Host Site has 7 teams, one for each night of the week. Host Sites work together in a rotation, in which each Host site is on call approximately one week each month between October 1st and April 30th.
The maximum number of times a Team leader could serve would be 7 times each season, or approximately one night a month.
Team leaders oversee a team of 8 volunteers on nights when their teams are mobilized to welcome our homeless guests into the church and facilitate the nights activities.
Team leaders, plus 2 additional Overnight Hosts spend the night at the church making sure our guests are safe.
Team leaders interact with Warming Site team leaders, law enforcement officers and Severe Weather drivers as part of their facilitation of the evening.
All team members arrive at the church at 6pm to set up the space and pray over the building and our guests.
All Team Leaders meet at least three times over the season with their Church Coordinator for debriefing and review of the sheltering experience.
Team Leaders are required to attend a 4-hour volunteer training in their first season.

Description
- Clearinghouse Helpline: 303-794-LOVE
Love INC's largest Gap Ministry is the Clearinghouse call center, open Monday - Thursday from 9:15 AM - 2:00PM. The Clearinghouse is staffed with caring and compassionate phone intake workers. When a call is placed, one of these volunteers will listen, take information, and pray with the individual calling and determine the requirements of the individual or family. Shortly thereafter, the Clearinghouse Coordinator begins the work of verifying the need, aligning church and agency resources to assist and meet that need, and eventually following up. For emergency assistance dial 911 or 211 for United Way.
