Looking for a very flexible and fun volunteer activity? Learn to be a tour guide at Brucemore on your schedule!
The next tour guide orientation will take place on June 13, 2016. Please RSVP by contacting Brucemore. To get a head start - contact Brucemore about shadowing opportunities.
Key Responsibility:
- Lead 45 minute guided tours of the mansion including all three floors and the basement during weekday and weekend tour times with flexible scheduling
Qualifications: Pleasant manner, patience, and dependability.
Training Requirements: Training for this position will be provided by the Manager of Interpretation and Collections. In addition, other staff will be available for questions and assistance. Training consists of a one-time orientation session, self-test, four tour shadowing opportunities, and final tour test. The process can take from one to three months to complete and is flexible depending on the individual’s schedule.
Schedule: Certified tour guides can sign up for one, two, three, or more 3-hour shifts each month. An email blast will be sent mid-month during tour season with the available shifts.

Brucemore inspires community interaction with history, preservation, and the arts. The 1880s mansion, six other historic structures, 26-acres of gardens and grounds, and tens of thousands of objects and archival documents serve as an irreplaceable foundation representing more than 130 years of history. Since 1981, more than one million people have visited the carefully preserved estate for community, cultural, and heritage programs.
Volunteers fulfill Brucemore's mission in a variety of ways including assisting with cultural events and leading tours of the mansion. Your involvement in our volunteer activities is vital to the ongoing success of the organization.
