Mission Statement
The mission of Ho'ōla Nā Pua is the renewal of trafficked girls through health, education, advocacy, and reintegration. We are committed to meeting the unique needs of underage female sex trafficked victims through the utilization of individualized, comprehensive, and restorative therapies. Our vision is to provide girls who are rescued or escape from the abuse of sex trafficking with a path to restoration and healing from their trauma, an increased sense of self-worth, and the confidence and ability to successfully reintegrate into their family and the community.
Description
We serve an Island-wide and National Need through Health, Education, Advocacy, and Reintegration. We are an active member of the Hawaii Coalition Against Human Trafficking Task Force.
Currently, Hoʻōla Nā Pua is the only organization working to build a long-term licensed residential facility of this kind in Hawai’i.
Through our education programs, we conduct multi-sector, community, active engagement, educational training to increase awareness of sex trafficking. Our objective is to provide safeguards for vulnerable persons and foster an interactive, multi-disciplinary, anti-trafficking community through outreach to neighborhoods, prevention program in schools, first-responders, service providers, lawmakers, faith based communities, and the population at large.
Hoʻōla Nā Pua’s Starfish Mentoring Program provides mentoring with health-centric, trauma-informed care and support that addresses the unique needs of survivors of sex trafficking and those at risk.
In addition to these programs, Hoʻōla Nā Pua continues to cultivate awareness through our advocacy program, where volunteers are able to interact with the greater community and share the values and mission of our organization.
