Greenbelt's Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (Green ACES), the Green Team, and Public Works strives to make the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival as green as possible.
We are seeking volunteers to stand near sets of recycling and trash bins to cheerfully help people "recycle the recyclables" and "trash the trash," and to encourage recycling in some fun ways.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Encourage festival guests to separate recyclables, compostable, and/or landfill waste into the appropriate bin;
Lead educational games that teach festival guests about what can and cannot be recycled or composted;
Remove any improperly placed recyclables, compostable, and/or landfill waste into the appropriate bin;
Measure the weight of full compost bins at the Green Team / Green ACES booth to track pounds of food waste diverted from landfill;
Empty the compost bins as needed, and;
Direct questions that you cannot answer to the Green Team / Green ACES booth. We hope you will be able to have fun and enjoy everything that the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival has to offer!
