Farm tour volunteers are recruited to staff registration tables at the farm of their choosing on the day of the tour. Staffing registration tables means checking visitors in and helping enforce biosecurity (hand washing and shoe rinses). This frees up the the farmer to give walking tours and show people around the farm.
The 2015 tour is scheduled for Sept. 19-20 from 1-5 pm and we will need 100 volunteers to make this year’s event possible. It’s fun and easy! The farmers will be busy conducting tours, so we need volunteers at every farm to check in guests, sell passes, and act as a friendly ambassador. We are looking for volunteers to work from 12:30 - 5:00 pm on one day of the tour only ... we’ll give you a free pass to enjoy the tour yourself for the other day! Also, all official volunteers will receive a wonderful, all new farm tour bee-shirt, courtesy of our sponsor, Whole Foods Market.
Plus, bring a friend if you'd like! Most farms have slots for two official volunteers per day, so if you’re bringing a friend choose a farm where two volunteers are needed and register separately so that we know all mandatory spots are filled. But if you’d like to partner with someone for a farm that calls for only one volunteer, you may feel free ... just be sure to provide their name and email address on your own registration. (Please note, we are happy to provide a free pass to extra volunteer guests, but t-shirts are only available for volunteers in 'official’ spots.)
