Our shoppers purchase appliances and furniture and often need help loading their purchase into their vehicle. We also move things around in the store to make room for more stuff! The ideal volunteer candidate needs to be comfortable lifting 50-75 lbs. with or without assistance, has a can-do attitude and loves working hard to help their community.
The ReStore sells new or used items at deeply discounted prices. All operating profits from the ReStores' sales go to Habitat's home building program. The ReStore is a busy and sometimes hectic place and our needs may change depending on paid staff coverage, or shopper and donor needs. We really want to pair volunteers with jobs that interest and inspire them. However, volunteers should be willing to work on what is needed for the store unless health or medical limitations exist. Occasionally we'll need your help with tasks such as:
- Customer service - greeting and assisting customers
- Stocking donations
- Unloading donations and loading customer purchases
- Cash register
- Pricing
- Merchandising
- Cleaning and scrubbing, sweeping and dusting!
