ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Cascades Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The Disaster Assessment activity will provide decision-making information for a disaster relief operation of any size. To support effective service delivery, the Disaster Assessment staff will gather, analyze, interpret and distribute accurate and timely information about the extent of damage, overall impact, weather conditions, and demographics of a disaster-affected community

OPEN TIME DAYS
Occasional on-call service is expected of Disaster Assessment responders.⦆ Some specific projects will be available on occasion to gather/mine informaiton and to build capacity in the region and geographic areas

REQUIRED TRAINING
  • To be promoted to the Disaster Assessment Worker Level the following classes will need to be taken.

  • Disaster Services: An Overview
  • Disaster Assessment Fundamentals
  • Recommended: Client Assistance System Trainingall six modules (online)
  • Suggested Courses:
  • Disaster Assessment Skills (Table Tops, Drills)
  • Disaster Action Team Workshop
  • Disaster Action Team Forms Workshop
  • American Red Cross Adult First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Basic Food Safety
  • Shetler Fundamentals
  • Logistics: An Overview
