Volunteer Board Member

Job Responsibilities:

  • Experienced, take charge professional with ability to manage administration and logistics in support of the companies goals.

  • Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision.

Job Duties:

  • Determines the mission and purpose by reviewing the statement of mission and purpose that articulate the organization's goals, means, and primary constituents served.
  • Supports and evaluate the chief executive by providing the moral and professional support he or she needs to further the goals of the organization.
  • Ensuring effective planning by participating in the overall planning process and assist in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.
  • Monitoring and strengthening programs and services to determine which programs are consistent with the organization's mission and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Ensuring adequate financial resources to secure adequate resources for the organization to fulfill its mission.
  • Protecting assets and provide proper financial oversight toassist in developing the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place.
  • Build a competent board by articulating prerequisites for candidates, orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate their own performance.
  • Ensuring legal and ethical integrity for adherence to legal standards and ethical norms.
  • Enhance the organization's public standing by clearly articulating the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments and direct staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
  • Fluent Bilingual oral and written communication skills in either (English/Spanish), (English/Arabic), (English/Chinese ),

    (English/Japanese), (English/Hindi) and (English/French)

  • Resourceful
  • Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and mail merges; email and web searches.
  • Ability to work from home.
  • Self-Motivator.
  • Great personality.
  • People Person.
  • Passion for nonprofits.
  • Handles constructive criticism and direction well.

Our organization may not be where we want to be, but we know where we are headed so we are working daily to position ourselves to be able to provide the tools and services that our community lacks & so desires.

PURPOSE

To strive to assist Michigan disadvantaged and/or distressed job seekers with an approach which aims to address the basic needs to put them on a career path to success. As well as to partner with communities, employers, employees and job seekers to educate, employ and train while managing the process through our Public Employment Tracking System (PETS) software to build a solid Michigan working economy. While in the process of contributing to Michigan’s economy we will also provide focus to areas such as the rebuilding, improving and maintaining neglected and or damaged communities through various projects.
