We are a Boston neighborhood museum looking for committed and energetic people who are interested in the history and culture of Boston. The West End Museum is dedicated to the documentation and preservation of the former West End neighborhood’s cultural heritage. This heritage owes its existence to an influx of immigrants who came to this neighborhood starting at approximately 1880. The West End’s destruction by eminent domain and urban renewal started in 1958, and evicted ten thousand people from their homes in the area. We are dedicated to the collection and preservation of these resident’s former neighborhood and the artifacts of the West End of Boston.

A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but a general interest in historical studies is recommended for those wishing to join the organization. Much of the work here involves working with artifacts or transcripts from the residents of the West End, with many of them containing varied and engaging accounts of life in that time and place.
