ORGANIZATION: Hospice of Michigan

HOM Logo

Hospice of Michigan is looking for musicians who are interested in building camaraderie, ensembles and performing.

Are you looking for a musical outlet?

Music is a gift and we are thankful that you are someone who has crafted your gift and places a lot of thought and care into your music. Please join us as a volunteer so that you can share this gift with our patients, with staff, with those in mourning and with each other.

To be a musician volunteer with Hospice of Michigan you will need to attend a training class, complete background check and fingerprinting, as well as a TB Test. We ask that you are a volunteer with us for at least one year and commit to 4 assignments (or should we call them gigs?) a year.

Music promotes healing, connectedness, and peace.

The types of instruments and music that our musicians play is as diverse as the patients and communities in which we serve. Perhaps we will be able to assist you in getting to know other musicians to form ensembles. Bring to us your gift and passion and we will put you to work sharing your music.

We are currently working to build a volunteer cohort of musicians. If you would like to join this cohort, please contact Alison Wagner, awagner@hom.org.

Description

What sets us apart

Our staff - Our dedicated doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors and hospice aides form a "cocoon of care" around our patients and families, providing comfort, support and dignity.

Our expertise - Because we are one of the largest hospices in the nation, we have specialists in many areas, including pediatric hospice, pain management, research and care for people with advanced dementia and other illnesses.

Our experience - We have been serving our communities for more than 30 years. Among our 600 employees, we have more board-certified hospice physicians and nurses than other hospices.

Our locations - We have offices and worksites throughout the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Wherever you are, we have a team of hospice specialists who can help you.

Our commitment - We care for all who need and seek our care, regardless of their age, diagnosis or ability to pay. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for our patients and families and for admissions.

Our size - We serve nearly 800 patients and their families every day; nearly one in four hospice patients in Michigan.
