Gentiva Hospice is currently looking for Angles of the 11Th Hour Volunteers also known as Vigil Volunteers to assist in supporting patients during their final hours of the actively dying stage. Our hope would be that "no one dies alone".

It may surprise many people to learn that hundreds of hospice patients die alone daily, with absolutely no one by their sides. Angels of the 11th Hour Program is a select group of trained volunteers who provides a supportive, peaceful presence in a home or facility during the final hours of a patient’s life.

The compassionate team of Gentiva Hospice is seeing an increase in patients who either do not have family living in the area or do not have family members at all. The Angles of the 11th Hour are trained in best practices for end-of-life care to provide support to these patients with no immediate family and to those with only one primary caregiver.

The Angles of the 11th Hour program trains non-medical professionals to provide emotional support to the patient and caregivers in the last hours of life. Primarily they offer a physical presence so a patient does not die alone and also provide family support through compassionate listening. Gentiva Hospice will implement ongoing Angles of the 11th Hour centered education for its staff and volunteers to help improve the care they provide to the patients and families they serve.

You must be committed and on call and be able to go when your called. If your retired and bored this would be great for you.
