  • 25 people are interested

Art with Heart is actively seeking Board Members to help expand our mission to support high-risk children.

The Art with Heart Board of Directors provides mission-based leadership, strategic governance, and fiduciary oversight, and ensures that the organization is run effectively, legally, and ethically. The Board sets long-range, strategic goals for our growth and development, securing adequate funds to support programs and outreach.

WHO

This is a great opportunity for engaged and committed candidates to play a leadership role in defining the strategic direction and evolution of a social enterprise.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader, an entrepreneur, corporate executive, business owner, or other professional of stature with strong links to a broad network. Board members must have a strong interest in Art with Heart's mission and goals and be willing to promote the organization to their networks.

Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers who enjoy connecting resources with needs and are accustomed to multi-stakeholder collaborations towards a common, mission-driven goal.

If you are someone with a track record of effective participation, please apply.

DETAILS

Board members assist with board development, fundraising, community connections, and strategic planning. Terms are two years with the option of renewal. Board members are leadership level positions and previous board experience is highly desirable.

Board members must serve on a committee or task force of their choice. Candidates should be prepared to invest approximately 10-15 hours per month, usually distributed as follows: 3 hours for the regular monthly Board meeting; 5-6 hours for committee/task force work; and 2-4 hours for special tasks, meetings, events and fund development activities. Participation at a training, the annual one-day retreat, and the annual fundraiser are required.

The board currently meets for 2 hours, seven times per year on First Hill near downtown Seattle.

Art with Heart is a social enterprise that is on a mission to help children overcome trauma through creative expression. We create books that use art to help kids heal. Since our inception in 1996, we have pioneered an innovative, effective, and sustainable approach to meeting the needs of youth. For more information, please visit http://artwithheart.org
