2015 VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

ADMISSIONS - Welcome guests, sell and issue daily tickets. Manage Will Call and check tickets/credentials at admission gate. (Wednesday- Sunday)

DRIVING RANGE - Manage the operation of the practice range and other practice areas. Duties include distributing range balls by brand, placing the appropriate nameplate to identify each player, pick-up/clean golf balls. (Monday-Sunday)

ON COURSE SERVICES (FOOD & BEVERAGE) - Transport drinks, ice and snacks to all holes on the course, scoring tents, practice range, media center, volunteer center, etc. Volunteers must be able to perform heavy lifting. *Please note: must be at least 16 years old to operate a golf cart. (Sunday-Sunday)

MARSHALS - Ensure players are not disturbed during play, spot balls, assist with starting tents when necessary and enforce crowd control and golf etiquette among spectators. (Wednesday- Sunday)

MOBILE DEVICE TASK FORCE - Assist in implementing mobile device policy for the PGA TOUR. Members are placed around the course to help spectators in locating the proper area to use a mobile device. (Thursday-Sunday)

OPERATIONS - Assist with set-up and maintenance of the tournament operations. This includes assisting with vendors to set up scoreboards, televisions, golf carts, hospitality structures, signs, fencing, and various other items. Manual labor is a primary function of this position, and can include lifting of heavy boxes, shoveling mulch, installing televisions, driving stakes in the ground and more. (Majority of this area’s work is done before the tournament)

PARKING - Assist in general or volunteer parking lots. Work consists of helping direct cars and customer service. Standing on your feet for most of the shift. (Monday- Sunday)

PRO AM - Assist with overall Pro Am operations. (Monday & Wednesday)

PRO AM CADDIES - Caddie for an amateur Pro Am Participant during either the Monday or Wednesday Pro Am. A great opportunity to walk the course and network. *Physical Requirements: Must be able to carry a golf bag (weight approximately 40 pounds) while walking 18 holes. Golf etiquette is a requirement. Will not be required to purchase a volunteer package. (Monday & Wednesday)

SHOTLINK LASER OPERATOR - Record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the SHOTLink system, while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Transmission achieved via the use of hand held palm pilots and stationary tripod cameras. SHOTLink volunteers on fairway duty will have preferred seating at key locations within the ropes. *Please note: All will have mandatory training on handheld devices and lasers Monday, November 2. (Thursday-Sunday)

SPONSOR SERVICES (HOSPITALITY) - Greet guests, check credentials and provide wristbands to clients at entrances to all corporate hospitality locations. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients are allowed inside the venue, assist marshals with noise control. You will also work with the catering staff to ensure each area is properly stocked and cleaned. (Thursday - Sunday)

STANDARD BEARERS - Accompany each group of professionals during play and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis. Must be able to carry a standard sign (weight approximately 5-7 pounds) while walking 18 holes. (Wednesday-Sunday)

VOLUNTEER CENTER - Responsible for the operation of the Volunteer Center during tournament week. Duties include managing morning and afternoon meal service, assisting volunteers with questions, etc. Opportunities to assist prior to tournament week with inventory, packaging and distribution of all volunteer apparel and credentials. (Monday-Sunday)

VOLUNTEER UNIFORMS- This committee will be responsible for setting up and supervising the volunteer uniform and credential distribution to take place a few weeks prior to the tournament. Duties include: distribution of credential packets, inventory, money handling, set-up and breakdown. (A few days early-mid-late October)

  • Friends of Children's Hospital is the tournament's primary beneficiary charity. Sanderson Farms Championship over $1.1 million in 2014. Their support of patients and families at Children's of Mississippi is extraordinary.
