Do you have at least one hour a day to devote to animal adoption? Bully Paws is looking for a Regional Adoption Coordinator to support the Fredericksburg region which includes the areas between Stafford and Richmond. Regional adoption coordinators are an extremely important part of our rescue efforts and are involved in facilitating the placement of adoptable dogs into their new homes. The regional coordinator will work under the Lead Adoption Coordinator and will manage the screening of applications from potential adopters, facilitation of the adoption once approved and serve as the primary resource for potential adopters and foster parents throughout the process.
The Regional Adoption Coordinator position is great for someone who has reasonable email access throughout the day and time to field all applications that come in from their region. Some phone time during the day is also required in certain situations but much of the phone contact can be done in the evening after work hours and on the weekends. This person should have a good working knowledge of our adoptable dogs so when a potential adopter says that she is looking for a 2-4 year old dog who is good with kids, the adoption coordinator can recommend a dog that fits their needs and wants. This requires close contact with the foster parents and the foster coordinator and attendance at events at least twice a month to meet the foster dogs.
While prior adoption coordinator experience is not required, the successful candidate for this position should be someone with excellent communication and organization skills, good process management skills and the ability to enforce policies and procedures. Additionally, someone that doesn’t need to use rigid rules for adoptions but instead can use general guidelines and appropriately investigate any red flags that arise. This is a position that requires considerable tact, sensitivity and thoughtfulness and is for someone who is a "people person" and is able to confront difficult people in a non-judgmental manner.
This position requires a time commitment of at least one hour a day and attendance at events at least twice a month. It’s very important that adoption coordinators be able to respond to applications that they are assigned and make a first initial contact with the potential adopter within 24 hours. The qualified candidate should live in the region or be willing to travel there as needed and also be willing to devote a minimum of at least one year to the position.
Interested volunteers should send an email to me at, candice@bullypaws.org with your interest and include any applicable experiences that outline your qualifications.
Note: This is a volunteer position but pibble kisses and wiggles are abundant!
