ORGANIZATION: VIP Managers Corps, a Program of 501 Commons

DisAbility Rights Washington (DRW) is looking to collaborate with a skilled volunteer this fall to take their volunteer program to the next level! DRW protects the rights of people with disabilities statewide through access to free services. Developing a robust volunteer program will further DRW’s ability to pursue justice for people with disabilities throughout Washington State.

United Way’s VIP Manager Corps (VIP MC) program which, developed in partnership with 501 Commons, provides VMC Members with the tools and resources needed to help organizations develop effective volunteer management practices. Be a part of VIP MC and help DisAbility Rights of Washington better achieve its mission.

VMC Members volunteer about 10 hours a week between mid-October 2015 and the end of May 2016 and will receive:

  • access to volunteer management resources
  • experience working with a nonprofit organization
  • the opportunity to collaborate with peers
  • ongoing support throughout the program
  • the ability to earn internship credit
  • an $800 United Way of King County service award
  • recognition for helping to increase an organization’s capacity to deliver services

We are seeking a volunteer with people skills, an aptitude for process and details, leadership experience, and a commitment to volunteerism. Interest or experience in advocacy work or law is desired but not required.

Description

United Way’s VIP Managers Corps, a program facilitated in partnership with 501 Commons, helps King County human service organizations develop and sustain effective volunteer engagement programs and practices. This program places volunteers with organizations that can benefit from additional staff support to help build organizational commitment, capacity, and competency around volunteer engagement activities. This is an exciting way to gain experience working with a nonprofit and help an organization more strategically use volunteers in support of its mission
