ORGANIZATION: Encompass Community Services

Provide educational presentations and workshops on safer sex and HIV prevention around Santa Cruz county. Educate and spread awareness about HIV and STI prevention; educate the community about Santa Cruz AIDS Project (SCAP) and other community resources; be a resource to the community in the fields of harm reduction and sexual health.

Job Duties:

  • Plan, arrange, and lead educational workshops and presentations
  • Lead or co-facilitate at least one presentation per month
  • Research safer-sex information to develop and expand SCAP's presentation and workshop curriculum, and become well-versed in HIV/STI prevention information
  • Report back to SCAP staff after presentations and work with staff to improve curriculum
  • Assist in data collection and input
  • Represent SCAP at community events

Qualifications:

  • Must work at least one 4-hour Front Desk shift per week, at SCAP's office
  • Must lead or co-facilitate at least one presentation per month
  • Must participate in prevention education seminar series
  • Must be available to attend as many trainings and observe as many presentations as necessary to feel comfortable and confident delevering the presentation material
  • Minimum six-month commitment; one year preferred
  • Acess to a car preferred
  • Experience working with LGBTQ, farmworkers, drug users, or homeless populations a plus
  • Bilingual indivduals are encouraged to apply
