Mercer Island is graced with 35 parks, over 400 acres of natural areas, and more than 50 miles of trails. Volunteers have been improving these parks for many years, planting native trees and shrubs and removing invasive plants but much more work remains to be done. Luther Burbank Park is important to the greater Greenway landscape as a rest stop for many species of migratory birds. Strangled by invasive weeds, the native trees and shrubs are struggling to survive. We will be removing various invasive species such as blackberry, ivy, holly, and more. It'll make a big difference to this future healthy forest!

Help make this human and natural heritage visible and accessible to all people.
Description
The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, founded in 1991, is a non-profit partnership of citizens, private landowners, businesses, public agencies, environmental organizations, and local governments working to protect and enhance the scenic I-90. The Trust supports efforts to preserve open space, farms, working forests, and historic sites, and to create new trails, recreation and tourism opportunities along the 100-mile Mountains to Sound Greenway. Trust volunteers work year-round on a variety of outdoor projects to improve the environmental health of and recreational access to the Greenway.
