Colorado Senior Connections - Edgewater, a division of Jewish Family Service of Colorado, oversees the older adult volunteers/Life Coaches for a program that runs at Jefferson High School in Edgewater, CO. The program is called "Street Cred" and is a voluntary/elective class for students that are considered at-risk and not enthusiastic about school. The Street Cred program is based off the Cowboy Ethics Principals of the West and we have seen great strides in kids in this program not only find a renewed sense of self, but have also gained enough self-confidence to see that school is important to the point graduating is an amazing goal and they have graduated! The success of this program comes part and parcel due to the fact that we have older adults/seniors that attend class once a week and work with the students as Life Coaches. Our Life Coaches are trained in various capacities priort to attending class and the results are memorable.
