NYC Community Services is hosting an event, "Lunch For Friends," on Saturday, July 4 from 11:30 am - 3:30 pm, at Highland Park in Brooklyn, to help give the families of our community who are in need a chance to celebrate Independence Day, like millions of other families will.

We are short volunteers and need as many helping hands as possible! Please come out and help support a great cause!

Please CONFIRM if you will be able to make it as soon as possible because we are going to be getting STAFF shirts for all of the volunteers at this event and would like a head count. More about the event:

While most will be enjoying fireworks, and barbecues in celebration of the holiday, we want to focus our attention on those who may not have a warm meal. We will be serving free hot meals, snacks, and drinks to all those in need. In addition, we will be offering fun activities to engage the younger members of our community.

Over a million New Yorkers will not be able to celebrate this 4th of July due to hunger and poverty. Help us bring light to the issue of hunger in our local community, which is not only a community issue, but a long standing issue within our society. So far, NYCCS "Lunch For Friends" are expecting over 100 attendants from local Women in Need Shelters in the Brooklyn area, as well as other local community members in shelters. We are hoping to feed up to 250 locals, making this Fourth of July a memorable one for them.
