If you are in school to become a teacher or just enjoy helping people improve their reading skills, this is for you! Many clients at The Douglas Center are at lower reading levels and would like to improve their reading ability or just practice reading.

The Douglas Center, a non-profit organization located in Skokie, IL, provides community day services for individuals, ages 18 to 80+, with developmental and/ or intellectual disabilities. The Douglas Center Work Center offers work programs that include light manufacturing, sewing, packaging, assembly, pre-vocational training as well as developmental rehabilitation for adults of all ages.

You will work under the guidance and supervision of a trained staff member. This volunteer service can be done during the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday and requires a minimum 60 hour commitment. If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity, please contact Elizabeth C. Kristiansen via email: ekristiansen@thedouglascenter.org or phone: 847-674-1921.
