Project Read seeks to prevent and alleviate adult illiteracy in Utah County through one-on-one tutoring services that help individuals improve their reading and writing skills sufficiently to meet personal goals, function well in society, and become more productive citizens.
As a small non-profit organization, Project Read relies heavily on the cooperation of community volunteers and other organizations that serve adults with low literacy skills. There are always different ways to serve at Project Read. Volunteers have been the lifeblood for the past 30 years - without them, we could not do what we do. We are always looking for people with various backgrounds, talents, and skill levels.
Volunteer Opportunities:- Office Volunteer - Assist the Office Manager with various tasks such as organizing resource materials, preparing new student/tutor folders for orientation, filing reports in student folders, leveling books for our library, etc.
- Lab Volunteer - Assist the Lab instructor with lesson preparation and teaching, leading discussions, meeting with students one-on-one to help them with their writing projects, etc.
- Events Volunteer - We will email you periodically with upcoming events where you can serve as a Project Read ambassador, help manage information booths, educate the community about our cause, etc.
You can make a difference! By choosing to participate, you will make a difference in the lives of those functionally illiterate adults in Utah County - volunteer, get involved!
