Position Responsibilites

  • Follow agency guidelines as you interact with clients and maintain a child-centered environment, demonstrating healthy communication skills and practicing conflict resolution
  • Help plan and implement developmentally-appropriate recreational activities that prepare children emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially for school
  • Keep the playroom areas clean, safe, and well-organized
Position Qualifications
  • Enjoy working with children, have experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
  • Excellent communication and people skills, including emotional stability and patience
  • Ability and willingness to listen actively and respond appropriately to children and parents
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and clients to foster a culturally inclusive environment

Availability

  • 2-3 hour shift two or more times a month for a minimum of four months, with flexible options

  • Attend Tubman’s Volunteer/Intern Orientation and Training series

Description

For more than 45 years, Tubman has helped people of all ages, all genders, and all cultural backgrounds struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse, mental health, and other forms of trauma. Throughout the Twin Cities, Tubman provides safe shelter, legal services, counseling, youth programming, and community education. Last year, we helped about 17,700 people in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Washington counties and the surrounding area, get the support and information they need to experience safety, hope, and healing.
