Help individuals recover from mental illness. Help us eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness and mental health. We are looking for a Register Nurse who would like to volunteer their time to help our members by providing education and information to clients about health & wellness-related topics, including medication and health conditions. Volunteer Duties 1.Provide professional nursing services to members. 2.Make and implement recommendations for client health care. 3.Coordinate mental and physical health services with team members, community/health care providers and family members. Assure that psychiatric and medical services are in place. 4.Monitor medication use; report medication response and side effects to physician. 5.Provide medication education to clients and significant others as needed. 6.Provide individual and/or group instruction on medications and health-related topics. 7.Complete all required documentation for services provided; maintain client files and program records; comply with HIPPA and Data Privacy Practices. 8.Develop and maintain professional relationships with providers and other community services; provide quality customer services to clients and providers. Volunteer Requirements 1.Must be a licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota 2.Must have experience working with adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness or in community nursing. 3.Experience working as part of a team. 4.Experience in relating successfully to persons of different backgrounds, cultures and interests. 5.Able to organize time and work independently. 6.Public health experience desirable. 7.Maintain optimal nursing practice standards through professional growth and development; demonstrate current nursing theory and skills. Saint Paul This location is open M-F from 2 to 6 pm. We are looking for the volunteer to make a weekly time commitment for at least six months, 2+ hours per week.

Founded in 1960, Avivo provides chemical and mental health services, housing support services, career education and employment services. We specialize in helping individuals and families who face personal or systemic barriers - poverty, homelessness, joblessness, chemical addiction or mental health concerns.

Our chemical and mental health services include chemical and mental health assessments, substance use disorder treatment (outpatient and residential) for individuals and families, mental health therapy, targeted case management and care coordination. Our ending homelessness services include street outreach for individuals living unsheltered, indoor tiny houses shelter (Avivo Village), hotel-to-home initiatives, transitional recovery housing and housing targeted case management. We operate Avivo Institute of Career & Technical Education which provides short-term training to earn industry credentials that launch individuals on career pathways and living wage jobs. Our full range of employment services customizes support for unemployed and under-employed individuals who are struggling to find work, transition or start their careers.
