AmeriCorps Member (full-time national service positions)

AmeriCorps members expand and enhance Goodwill services by providing support to program participants through job skills and employability training, and job readiness services such as assistance preparing for, finding and keeping a job. Members also assist with identifying and obtaining needes supports such as transportation and child care.

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 17 years old and a U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident alien of the U.S., and a high school graduate or GED recipient.

Experience working with individuals with barriers to employment is desired, but not required. Spanish speaking skills are a plus. Desire to have a positive impace on the community is a must.

Full-time: 1,700 total hour, one-year commitment. 35-40 hours per week.

$12,530 (before taxes). Living allowance is divided into equal payments, distributed every two weeks.

Upon completion of one-year term of service, members receive a $5,730 (before taxes) education award.

Members may qualify for student loan forbearance (postponement) on the repayment of their student loans during their term of service. The education award can be used to help pay back qualified student loans or to pay for future education expenses at qualified schools.

Members will participate in on-going personal and professional development trainings. Full-time members may qualify for health insurance and child care assistance.

Members will serve in the Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
