Home Fire Preparedness Campaign
Volunteers are helping to potentially safe lives by installing and checking smoke detectors. Come and make a difference too!

This is a great opportunity to spend a Saturday doing meaningful, live saving work. As you may know, the #1 reason people die in house fires is because they did not have a working smoke detector. Red Cross is partnering with our local communities to target potentially vulnerable neighborhoods and installing smoke detectors. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents and their teenagers to volunteer together as well as employee, faithbased and civic groups.

Volunteers of all skill levels are needed. On July 11 & 18 we will form teams to canvass the Hillview community in Jefferson/Bullitt Counties and check or install smoke detectors where needed. Each team will consist of 3 individuals: 1. Installer (comfortable with an electric screwdriver) 2. Educator (assisting the family in developing an escape plan in case of fire) and 3. Recorder (completing a form).

To sign-up or if you have questions, contact Lori Medley at lori.medley@redcross.org. Orientation training and lunch is provided on the day of the events. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
