Venus de Miles is an all-women's non-competitive bike ride and 5k run that was created by, and fully benefits, Greenhouse Scholars. Greenhouse Scholars is a non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado that provides comprehensive personal and financial support to high-performing, under-resourced college students. Venus de Miles is the main revenue source for Greenhouse Scholars.
Our volunteers are the backbone of our event - and we are looking for a lot of additional help this year. The event takes place August 9, 2014 and begins and ends at Lake Forest College (at the Glen Rowan House) in Lake Forest, IL. Various volunteer positions are needed, from course marshals to rest stop volunteers/captains to finish line motivators to festival management and many others (like Men in Drag!)
Every volunteer will receive a Venus t-shirt (that you'll actually wear), a free gourmet lunch at the post-ride festival, and some delicious cocktails, wine and craftbeer, to top it all off. You'll also be entered into a volunteer-only raffle (with some AWESOME schwag) and of course, you'll receive our ENDLESS GRATITUDE and the knowledge that you are supporting a remarkable cause! You can volunteer as an individual or you could create a volunteer team via the volunteer link HERE. Also, if you are part of an organization and are able to round up a team of 15 volunteers, you will have a free 10x10 tent space at the Festival after the race. The advertising tent space values at $500!
Of course, if you want to participate as a Venus de Miles rider, all the more POWER to you! Remember, we are looking for riders of all skill levels and riding backgrounds! Come one, come all! We promise a fun, empowering, and motivating event. Register HERE (you won't regret it!)

Venus de Miles is Colorado's largest all-women's cycling ride and finish festival, put on by and fully in support of Greenhouse Scholars. It is a one-day celebration of sisterhood that allows women to choose from different course lengths for different ability levels, and ride and celebrate their accomplishment in an environment of support and empowerment.
Description
Greenhouse Scholars provides whole person support - financial, personal, and professional- to high-achieving, low-income students so they can succeed through college and become catalysts for lasting change. We are a community of mentors, professional networking contacts, corporate partners and sponsors, and supporters, working together to create positive generational change in low-income communities by creating the ability for people of all backgrounds to live the life of their choosing.
