Description: Mentors in our mentor2.0 program empower students to focus on graduation, prepare for success in college and achieve their career ambitions. This program takes place at Godby High School and mentors are matched with a 9 th, 10 th or 11 th grader. Mentors meet students face-to-face once every 6 weeks on campus, and communicate once per week by emailing through innovative mentoring technology.
Depending on what your availability is, you may visit the student during their AVID class at Godby. Mentors may also meet with the student on Leon County school grounds for activities such as Godby High basketball games, dance recitals or other school events.
Since mentoring is not required during winter, spring, or summer breaks, this program is often a great choice for students and working professionals.
Committment:
- Commitment to one 1 school year; September 2015 to May 2016
- Commitment of minimum of 1 electronic communication via secure platform, once per week
- Commitment to attend in-person events, facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters, every 6 weeks
