The Center for Children and Families receives regular donations from community members, Bed Bath & Beyond and Walmart. These donations are used by foster families, new parents, youth on the path to adult independence, families living in poverty, and clients in recovery or crisis. As a donation transport volunteer, you may either pick up items from local retailers on a regular basis (once every other week) or be "on call" to pick up donations from local donors or deliver large items to clients in need. Clients receive donated items for free, but the opportunity to "go shopping" in our neat, well-organized store allows them to move forward in an environment of self-sufficiency and respect--and volunteers like you are crucial to the success of this program. This position provides the opportunity to gain experience in both administrative and direct service work in an inventive, ever-evolving nonprofit organization.

  • Pick up or drop off donations in the Billings area
  • Schedule pick-up/drop-off times with donors and clients
  • Schedule and number of hours are flexible--we'll work with you!

Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • While not required, a large vehicle (mini van, SUV, pick-up truck) is helpful.
  • Background check required for certain activities (ask for more information).

Mission Statement

The mission of The Center for Children and Families is to ensure safety, well-being and permanency for children. We are a merger of three previously independent agencies (Second Chance Homes, Forever Families, and Arrowhead Psychological) working together to serve vulnerable and in-crisis families in our community.

Description

The Center for Children and Families provides services in three areas. The Second Chance Homes Program provides 24-hour staffed sober and supportive transitional housing for families in recovery from substance abuse. Services allow children to remain in parent care while the parent is in recovery and/or to return children more quickly to parental care. The Forever Families Program provides supportive services for foster/adoptive families and also provides supportive/financial services to youth aging out of the foster care system (ages 16-24). Our mental health and clinical services division provides individual neuropsychological assessment, mental health assessments, and parent child bonding assessments for families as well as individual and family mental health services. We also provide a myriad of therapeutic groups including Seeking Safety, Celebrating Families, Circle of Trust, and Transparenting education (for divorcing/separating/co-parenting families). Lastly, the agency often provides community training on the brain chemistry of addiction, team building and trauma informed environments.
